Shark Videos takes you into the factual world of some of the greatest ocean predators.  These large fishes have been around for 400 million years and have hunted the oceans even before dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Sharks have powerful jaws that can grow more than 20,000 teeth in a lifetime! The fact is they never run out of teeth because if one is lost, it gets replaced by another from the rows of backup teeth that they have. Sharp pointed teeth are tell-tale tools of these carnivorous sea animals that live on fish, dolphins, seals, turtles, seagulls and even each other!

Two-thirds of shark brains are dedicated to the sense of smell which is what makes it such a successful predator. The mirror like layer in its eye makes it see clearly even in murky water allowing it to hunt with ease. An unusually keen sense of 'feeling' vibrations through their electro receptor organs, Ampullae of Lorenzini, alerts them to potential prey. Add to this the sharks listening abilities that can hear a prey miles ahead and you have a supersonic killing machine at large on the seas.

The unique boneless skeleton composed of tough, elastic cartilage and a rounded, tough-skinned, streamlined body helps them to swim efficiently. An oversized liver full of oil that’s lighter-weight than water aids their swimming capabilities. Sharks have to swim constantly to keep their body from sinking.

Shark videos helps you explore the fascinating world of sharks to learn more about these ancient creatures that have had little need to evolve in the last 150 million years!
